SASSA confirms that it will pay Children’s Grants on Friday, 4 September, the final day of its standard three-day payment cycle for September. The agency pays Older Persons Grants first on 2 September, followed by Disability Grants on 3 September.
SASSA explains that caregivers whose grants are under review will not receive payment on 4 September as usual. The agency instead processes these payments on Monday, 7 September, provided the caregiver has met the review requirements. SASSA also stresses that this date applies only to beneficiaries under review, not to the general caregiver population.
The agency pushes updated contact details and warns of scams
SASSA advises caregivers who miss the 4 September payment to wait rather than approach a SASSA office immediately. The agency notes that it typically alerts beneficiaries to a review via SMS and acknowledges that outdated contact information can prevent delivery. SASSA has therefore launched a WhatsApp line (082 601 0111), allowing caregivers for the Children’s Grants to confirm their review or verification status directly from their phones. The agency urges caregivers to update their cell phone numbers, residential details, and financial information regularly.
Furthermore, when attending a review, SASSA requires caregivers to bring an ID document, proof of income, bank statements, and proof of residence. SASSA warns that ignoring a review request can result in a grant being suspended or lapsing under current regulations.
The agency closes by urging caregivers to verify grant information only through official channels and warning against individuals who request banking details or payment in exchange for grant assistance.
