Kaizer Chiefs injury update on Phili, Mayo
Bad news for Chiefs fans. Impressive new signing Langelihle Phili will miss around eight weeks with an ankle injury sustained in training. Thabiso Monyane, recently a fixture in the first team, will be out for four weeks. Khanyisa Mayo was pictured in training before the win over Siwelele, but didn’t feature in the matchday squad. Nkosingiphile Ngcobo is fit, but not being considered with rumours he could be frozen out and sold.
Chiefs are looking good under Da Cruz
The Glamour Boys remain unbeaten after five Betway Premiership outings and will be eager to keep that run going under coach Da Cruz. Last time out, they beat Siwelele 3-2 with Mfundo Vilakazi and Wandile Duba among those on the score sheet. Lebo Maboe and Mdu Shabalala assisted Vilakazi and Duba’s strikes respectively. Polokwane have made an indifferent start to the season, winning only once, drawing three matches and losing the other. Polokwane vs Chiefs kicks off at 15:00 on Saturday, 12 September. The match, as ever, will air on DStv SuperSport channel 202.
Likely XI vs Polokwane
Da Cruz will persist with his 3-4-3 system, utilising Pule Mmodi as a left wing-back. Young attacking trio Duba, Vilakazi and Shabalala are likely to start again.
