SASSA beneficiaries could see changes to their November grant payment dates as the agency reviews its schedule ahead of South Africa’s local government elections.
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that it is reviewing the November 2026 social grant payment cycle following the announcement of the local government elections.
Election Day is scheduled for Wednesday, 4 November, which has also been declared a public holiday across South Africa.
SASSA has urged beneficiaries not to panic, stressing that eligible beneficiaries will still receive their grants.

November SASSA payment dates under review
SASSA originally announced its 2026/27 payment schedule following approval by National Treasury.
Under the original November schedule:
However, the schedule is now being reconsidered because of the election date.
SASSA said it would consult with relevant stakeholders before confirming a revised arrangement.
The agency has not yet announced the replacement November payment dates.
What beneficiaries need to know
The review does not mean that grants are being cancelled or that beneficiaries will lose their payments.
SASSA said it remains committed to ensuring that eligible beneficiaries receive the correct grants.
The agency will announce the new November payment arrangement once the consultation process has been completed.
Why November is different
The clash comes because Election Day falls on 4 November, the date originally scheduled for Disability Grant payments.
The day has been declared a public holiday under Section 2A of the Public Holidays Act to allow South Africans to participate in the local government elections.
For now, beneficiaries should therefore wait for SASSA’s official announcement before changing their plans.
The agency’s existing schedule should not be treated as final until the revised November dates are formally communicated.
