AmaZulu are sitting comfortably in the PSL top three after overtaking Kaizer Chiefs.
Heading into the international window, Arthur Zwane’s team are looking like genuine contenders.
However, the statistics may show a different story beyond the coach’s success on paper.
What is Arthur Zwane’s record at AmaZulu?
Since Zwane signed as coach in October 2024, AmaZulu has not finished outside of the PSL’s top six.
Usuthu were sixth in 2024/25, fourth in 2025/26, and are now in the top three for 2026/27.
According to sports statistics account OptaJabu, the club gained 101 points in 63 games under his guidance.
101 – The weekend's win brought AmaZulu past the 100 point mark since Arthur Zwane joined the club back in October 2024. Only Sundowns & Orlando Pirates have won more points in that period. Podium. pic.twitter.com/QBGdjxJeIF— OptaJabu (@OptaJabu) September 23, 2026
The same analysis suggests that Kaizer Chiefs earned only 94 points over the same number of matches.
Mamelodi Sundowns, meanwhile, got 155 points from 64 games, while Orlando Pirates had 140 from 62 matches.
FlashScore also cited OptaJabu’s statistics in its report on Zwane’s record at the helm of AmaZulu.
Do the stats tell the full story?
The short answer – no.
Looking at results since Zwane took over, a worrying trend has emerged for the club and its coach.
Since October 2024, AmaZulu has not defeated Sundowns, Pirates, or Chiefs in domestic action.
Cross-checking FlashScore and Transfermarkt data, Usuthu are still winless against any of the PSL “big three”.
The best AmaZulu has achieved under the legendary midfielder are draws against Pirates and Chiefs.
Sundowns have defeated the Durbanites in all past outings, including a 5-2 thumping at Loftus Versfeld earlier this season.
It could also be an omen ahead of AmaZulu’s away clash against Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on 4 November.
The bottom line is that Zwane has closed the gap on the PSL’s giants on points, but is still missing a decisive win over the “big three”.
