DStv has officially rolled out its new system this week, and with it comes a free upgrade for existing subscribers from Compact Plus to its Premium tier.
The pay-per-view TV company, which falls under Multichoice and was recently acquired by French media giant Canal+, introduced the new structure on Thursday, 17 September.
Packages are priced from R99 per month, with the biggest draw card being a dedicated sports package.

DSTV GIVES COMPACT PLUS SUBSCRIBERS FREE UPGRADE
The new DStv package structure is aimed at giving customers more flexibility and more content, for less, with several packages seeing price cuts while offering expanded channel line-ups.
Customers can also choose packages tailored to what they watch most, from sports and entertainment to movies and series.
Existing Compact Plus subscribers enjoyed an added advantage: as the package was effectively retired from the line-up, customers were promoted to the premium tier at no extra charge.
This effectively means that Compact Plus subscribers get the Premium channel line-up while paying their old prices.
Compact Plus on DStv Stream costs R549 per month, while the decoder-based Compact Plus is listed at R649 per month. DStv Premium costs R799 for streaming and R979 for the standard month-to-month decoder package.
Existing Compact Plus customers will continue to pay R549 for streaming or R649 for decoder while receiving the Premium channel experience, which includes the full bouquet of channels.
MultiChoice told MyBroadband that there is no fixed end date for this arrangement at .present
