Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou isn’t happy with the manner of his team’s 3-1 win against La Cura Waves FC on Sunday.
Pirates boss warns players against showboating
Head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou says results come first and would walk away from the club if flair became more important than scoring goals and finishing matches off. Pirates claimed a 3-1 win over La Cure Waves FC to progress to the next stage of CAF Champions League qualifiers. However, the Sea Robbers took their foot off the gas after taking a two-goal lead. The Sea Robbers came from a goal down to win 3-1 thanks to strikes from Kabelo Kgositsile, Kamohelo Sebelebele and Yanela Mbuthuma.

“I can’t be satisfied with winning 3-1. I don’t want to go forward to win 3-1 and then drop the rhythm in the second half,” said Ouaddou.
“If my players are satisfied with three goals, I think we’re lacking ambition and we won’t go far. We must take this job seriously. Football is about scoring goals. When you put five, six or seven goals, no problem. Then, i’ll allow the showboating. But when you see me sitting on the seat, it means I don’t agree. I can allow them to make showboating when we’re putting seven goals, but they have to understand that at the highest level, the best footballers are the ones who score goals.
“My job, as a coach, is to improve players and make them give their best to win games with a winning mentality,” he said.
“The moment that I accept this showboating, I’m sorry, I’ll leave the results, I’ll leave everything, pack my luggage and stop training because it won’t be my world. My world is winning games.”
“If they want to continue doing this, please, without me. I won’t be the coach,”
“It’s clear. Not with me. I prefer to stop and maybe bring somebody who’ll accept the showboating. I won’t accept it.”
